The type of politic in Rwanda is republic. There are ten different political parties in Rwanda, and the most recent election for the chamber was in september 2008. It was won by the Rwandese Patriotic Front (RPF) with its coalition with six small parties, including the Centric Democratic Party (PDC), the Ideal Democratic Party (PDI), the Prosperity and Solidarity Party (PSP), the Democratic Popular Union (UPDR), and the Rwandan Socialist Party (PSR). The parliament has 80 members. 53 of which are elected on a five-year term by a proportional representation, 24 are elected by the Provincial Councils, 2 by the National Youth Council and 1 by the Federation of the Associations of the Disabled. After this election 56% of the parliament consists of women, which makes it on top of the world ranking on amount of women in the parliament.

The president is Paul Kagame, he is the leader of the Rwandese Patriotic Front, and has been the president since 1994. He was born October 23, 1957 to a Tutsi-family. In August 2010 he got re-elected with 93% of the votes.

Rwnada is one of the most penurious country in the world. After the genocide 1994, 70 percent of the citizen lived in poverty. Today it's almost 57 percent. HIV is widespread all over Rwanda, Sweden with many countries is supporting Rwanda against HIV. Rwandan economy is based on their agriculture, which is very rain-fed. There are many small farms in Rwanda, but there are a few natural resources to exploit. These small farms, average a half hectare, are suiting to produce coffe and tea. One half hectare is too small and very unsuitable for most business purposes though. Since 2002 the GDP growth has been between 3% and 11% per annum. The government is constantly working on improving the economy and this is done by reforms and foreign aid. A ranking of economies in countries "Ease of Doing Business" released in september 2009 found them to have jumped from number 148 to number 67.
